Today we're going to make a Climashield Apex UQ. This will be in several posts due to the limits on posting images.
This UQ will be built using the "inside out" method. A very fast and simple way to make an uq.
First you need 2 pieces of material - it doesn't need to be down proof. I use plain 1.1oz ripstop with DWR treatment.
Decide on what size you want the UQ. A full length is 72" long by 44-46" wide. A torso length is 48-60" long and 44-46" wide. It can be as long or wide as you want.
Lets say you want a full length. Cut 2 pieces of ripstop to 74" long by 48" wide. The extra 2 inches is for seam allowance - 1 inch all the way around.
Most ripstop has a shiny side and a dull side. You want the dull sides to face each other.

Now cut your Climashield Apex to the same dimensions as the ripstop.
We need some channels for the suspension so cut 4 pieces of material - two pieces 3" wide by 44" long and 2 pieces 3" wide by 72" long. Do a 1" roll hem on the ends, fold in half and sew the edges together 1/4" from the edge.
Next we pin everything together in part 2.
