Compression Biship Bag
Christo456's post gave me an new ideal to try. I haven't seen it done so it's new to me at least. I have taken stuff sacks, including my HH Explorer bag and put a tarp grommet in the bottom to make biship bags. It's simple and they seem to hold up well so far. So why not take a compression bag, put a tarp grommet in the bottom. Use it like a bishop bag and then compress it down to put back into you pack. Not sure if the grommet would make it weak without reinforcement somehow. I'll try to gather some gear this evening to see if it will work. I might end up with a compression bag cannon when it all burst's out the bottom.

Re: Compression Biship Bag
I'd be interested to see how and if it works.

Re: Compression Biship Bag
Just put a grommet in the bottom of a alps compression bag. It's made from some heavy material, not a light weight bag. I stuffed it full of clothes and compressed it down as far as the straps would go. Grommet looks fine, no issues. I have it compressed enough it bounces like a basketball. I bounced it hard from all angles and it still looks great. I don't have a lighter compression sack to try this on so your results might vary. From this experience I would say it's doable.

Re: Compression Biship Bag
I just ordered a cheap, no name compression bag to try this on. From my first test it looks like the seams around the bottom are getting more stressed than the grommet.

Re: Compression Biship Bag
Just put a grommet on the bottom of a aegismac xsmall compression bag. Filled it full and tightened it down all the way. Same result as heavier bag. Grommet holds fine. I put this grommet closer to the edge to try to stress it more. No amount of prodding effects it.
Now to find a compression bag sized for my Kelty12. Looks like a good use for this.

Re: Compression Biship Bag
The Aegismac xsmall (2L~6L) compression bag from Amazon.com is $9.90. My Kelty Noah's 12 tarp fits in this bag fairly easy and compresses down to about 9.5"x6". The best I have found for this tarp.
