Might be doing a 2 week section hike of the AT in Aug
Have the wife 90% talked into letting me go for 2 weeks to section the AT. If I go i think I will start at PennMar and hike south through Harper's Ferry then into the Blueridge Mtns. PennMar is 10 miles from where my family was from, still have some friends there...might be fun.

Would love to join ya, but I promised the Little Colonel we'd go to NH this fall.

I'm going for a quick out and back with my mom this week from Gathland to Weverton and back. Wanted to show her the Garvey shelter.
Next multi-day trip after this will be the triple crown of VA.

Don't know if you made it out this way or not Scuba, but the trail is currently a creek from all the rain. We're heading back out tomorrow, but have enjoyed all the pleasures of backpacking in constant, relentless rain, haha.

If the wife let's me, I'm not going until August.

Oh, gotcha. For some reason I thought you were going to be out here the same time I was. Well, I wish you better weather when you do get out here.
Sarge, I miss NH too... and I've never been there. Haha! I'd love to hike the whites someday.

That's an awesome section that I've done a couple times.
Lot's of history, hiking through Civil War battlefields, Washington Monument, and the opportunity to see the Blair Witch during your hike.

My Dad's house was a 10 minute drive from PenMar, and I tramped all over the AT when I was a teenager.PapaSmurf wrote:That's an awesome section that I've done a couple times.

Re: Might be doing a 2 week section hike of the AT in Aug
My last hike through PenMar, there was a real fancy wedding reception taking place over in the pavilion. The groom came over and asked us to come eat with them. He then escorted our entire group of dirty, smelly hikers right to the front of the serving line. Never felt so out of place, but the food was unbelievable.
Gotta love trail magic.
