I'll have more videos up soon, but for now here is a pick of what was just named, "The Carrot!"

It also happens to be my very first hammock. It's not complete yet, but I should be able to field test it tomorrow.

Carrot.

Cute.

Now make something that looks like cheese.

I like cheese.

It would be cool if you stayed away from broccolli, too---OK?

I'll be sure and do that Sarge! For one of my next projects I just placed my first order with http://www.makeyourgear.com. They have all kits on sale 20% off right now and just added a bridge

What do you do when your pup likes to chew on their leash and in 2 seconds turns your $40 Ruffwear leash into yard ribbons? Why, you mod it to use Amsteel and let your pups choppers go to town!

And my latest DIY endeavor...a kelty green hammock for my girlfriends daughter courtesy of www.ripstopbytheroll.com and their netless hammock kit. Her first hammock btw.
Image

So far I've made two hammocks and two packcovers, the first was a mockup out of regular nylon as it was my first real project.

I've been struggling with the tension settings on my machine and tonight I had to stop sewing and use my google-fu to find out what the deal was.

I had read the manual and it said the bobbin thread tension was set at the factory and did not need adjustment. I found a video on the youtubes that showed how to tighten the bobbin thread tension and said it may void your warranty. Well, I went for it because the quality of my sewing is bad enough without a faulty machine. I broke the little yellow seal of loctite and tightened the bottom tension yielding instant results and a very happy camper!

Moral of the story, if anyone else has one of these newer Singer heavy duty machines, you may have to fiddle with it outta the box.

Will have a video up tomorrow but for now here is a little teaser for you all... Can you guess what's inside?

That's right! A RBTR 3/4 UQ with 2.5 climashield apex.

My question is can a stiff sack be too tight? I double stitched the seams and it fits but it's close.

1.0 hyperd olive drab outer and blaze orange inner with 2.5 climashield apex should be good for about 50°.

Thanks Sarge.

No idea. I don't have a scale. But it's pretty light and compresses more than I thought it would.

Yah, Climashield is good stuff. I'm of the opinion that's all that we really need down here.

I remember you saying that at Fairfield last year and I figured it was worth a shot. For $60 shipped it can't hurt.

This video on a DIY gravity filter was a year in the making...actually I made it last year and never posted it. Enjoy.
