Cheap Down Jackets

Costco was selling a cheap down jacket called "32 degrees" (the brand not the temp rating) for $20 but quickly sold out.

Now, though, elder beerman and amazon have listed the jacket at $40 LINK. Elder Beerman was also running a $20 off coupon in the paper which would bring it back down to $20 minus shipping and costco service fee (if you are not a member).

The jacket is not out of this world. Very thin shell material. But it is very puffy, very light (mine is XL 11oz) and packs down small. For $20 its a steal.

They are "Jerry" Sams Club had them last year. The outer shell is very weak. I got one last year and within a week I was putting patches on it.
It works well in the low 30s. It needs looking after, it is a jacket that will not last long. When mine totally gives up the ghost I will harvest some down fill.
There are wonders out there...now to go find them HFHS (Have Fun & Hike Safe)

Yeah. I totally see the shell being the downfall of this jacket. I'm light on my gear when I need to be.

Also, old navy is having 50% off everything cyber Monday. You can grab a hooded down jacket for 35 bucks. No idea the quality:

Edit: unfortunately I just noticed the sides of the jacket are fleece.

I guess I've been pretty lucky with my Sam's Club and Costco down jackets. No problems at all.

That's good to hear. How long have you been using them?

Going on my second winter now. I was wearing one of them in this video:

It got pretty wet after that North Face rain jacket wetted out on me.
