Treble Hammock first impressions

#1

Post by TXyakr » Wed Feb 17, 2016 4:58 am

I saw this online and my first impression was "Well I guess someone is terrified of falling out of their hammock while sleeping, ha ha ha." But seriously it might be a good solution for someone with disabilities, small children or something like that. However, at 6 pounds (heavy) and costing well over 2X what a non-netted hammock typically does, and requiring 3 trees/posts not just 2 it seems more like a solution looking for a niche problem to me. Basically just a stripped down version of some of those suspended tent like structures that have been around for awhile. IMO not hammocks.

What do you think?

I might be more positive about it if I slept in one for a few hours, sort of like a Bridge Hammock they are great for reducing shoulder squeeze which can become a problem especially for older people if they don't do some chest stretching exercises several times a day or swap out to a flat bed every once in a while.

Some other videos on YouTube that show other variations of this, talk to your Doctor and/or Physical Therapist about it, my P.T, showed me. It seems to help. Sitting at a desk/computer for many hours per day stretches back muscles too much and compresses chest muscles (not natural posture for the human body) so doing these types of stretches several times a day helps, especially if you sleep in a gathered end hammock most nights.

It would be fun to try, but I think you would have issues finding trees for it. Also it's pretty heavy, would be fine for car camping if you knew you had trees that were usable.

Ditto that. Looks comfy though. Is that poles under the corners? Looked again, maybe that's just the strap hanging down.

I would like to see it set up on one of those Tensegrity stands:

I could see it doing a dual purpose when you don't have trees around.
