Kizme, the camping cat, tries swimming

Since it has been RIDICULOUSLY hot, I took Kizme (KIZ-mah) to the beach to try out his new floatation vest. Kizme LOVES to jump in the shower at home, play with the faucet and tip over his water bowl, so I thought he would LOVE Lake Michigan too!

He didn't seem to LOVE it. He was content sitting on me, and I would splash a bit of water on him. He tolerated the water. He mostly just loved to watch the birds and watch the boats.

I took him out to chest level and just held him. He didn't really like it.

But he would jump off my shoulder into the water!

He went head first and was fully submerged for a millisecond.

I would cheer him along!

He was a fast swimmer too!

We repeated this about a half of dozen times and when we got home and he was EXHAUSTED!!

I'm a dog person. Even so, that looks like a pretty cool cat.

My new kitten doesn't mind the water either. She is usually walking around on the tub or getting in the tub while I am taking a shower. One day she just sat down in the water at the end of the tub away from the shower head and groomed herself. Too funny. I have never had a cat before that didn't mind getting wet.
