Growing up as an Army brat of a career soldier, most of my formative years were spent on post. I have fond memories of all traffic stopping at 5:00 and folks getting out of the car and facing the main flag pole, whether in sight or not, for retreat. I recall moving regularly back and forth across the country on TDY assignments between places where orders stationed dad; waiting and worrying with other families as we watched newscasts reporting war stories during deployments; commissary and PX shopping; living in quarters on post; MP check points at the gates and meeting my bride in the military neighborhood we lived in while in high school.

Dad is retired Army. I have an uncle who is retired Air Force and a third one who is retired Navy along with a 4th who also served. My wife's dad and my brother in law both retired from the Army and I have more friends serving or who have served in the military than I can remember.

Although it was not the path I chose, (probably issues of control and submitting to authority more than any other reasons), those who serve currently and who have served have my utmost respect and appreciation.

Thank you.

I have to say, I'm worried that this streak is not going to make it to 15. Chris Carter is going to be a great QB. Monken, whom Army stole from us, is a great coach and if BYU offers the job I think Coach Ken is going to take it.

But, our helmets yesterday were badass, I just wish they had paid more homage to the Marine Corps.

Essayons!

I was also at Eschborn but a few years later...'88 - '91. Went to the 317th reunion in Tennessee back in June. Lots of folks attended. Good to see a fellow Engineer here. Too bad we did not have hammocks back then for Wildflecken.
