Let's Take Kristi Camping! 18-20 September

For those of you who don't know it, Kristi is a young lady who I met when she was a High School Student and I was just beginning to volunteer at my church's Student Ministry. She's all growed up now and has a burning desire to get out into God's Creation---and getting young folks out into Creation is one of the reasons' the Ministry was founded.

So let's take her camping on the weekend of 18-20 September.

We'll be focusing on backpacking and primitive camping skills on this one, so no big Fellowship Dinner or car camping. I'll be loaning her what she needs but doesn't have for shelter and cooking, and will be looking for everybody to be ready to teach by example, mentoring, and Fellowship.

We can also use this as a dry run for Hiker's Thanksgiving to demonstrate to her hiker's shuttling so that one can do an A to B to C weekend trip.

Its going to be Deer Season, so we're limited as to where we can camp.

So here's the plan:

Friday night camp will be at the "official" campsite where the Little Lake Creek Loop intersects with the Pole Creek Trail, just west of Parking Lot #4 (where we first met Preacher and his wife).

http://lonestartrail.org/maps/medium/01 ... ess_sc.pdf

Saturday AM we'll hike over to the "official" campsite near "Korean Pond"

Sunday morning, we'll hike out to Parking Lot #2 to get into the shuttle vehicle(s) back to parking Lot #4. (We should have this one down by now).

I'll be arriving late Friday as I will meet with Kristi in Richmond to make sure she gets there and can find Parking Lot #4 should it be dark by the time we get there. This means that those volunteering to shuttle from parking Lot #2 should work all those details out.

We're trying to teach Kristi how to do a three day meal plan, so all of your food is on you so that you can share with her how you came about the decision on what to bring and how to cook it in a primitive camping situation.

You will need food and water for:

~Your Friday meals, if any.

~Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner for Saturday.

~Breakfast on Sunday.

We can filter water at Korean Pond, or early arrivals can cache some there if they are willing.

Looking for suggestions here about a Biblical or Theological theme for this one---any ideas?

Will try our best to make it, but I cannot guarantee anything due to possibility of having to go out of town for work.

Wish I could come, but that's opening weekend of south zone dove season. Maybe next time...

Although I haven't chimed in previously, I've had this on the calendar and am looking forward to it. As I have a pretty heavy Sunday commitment load, I may or may not be there the entire time. I'll know better as we get closer.

That's good.

Well, you're covered for part of it. I just verified that I do have some Sunday morning commitments so this will be just a Friday/Saturday gig for me. Hopefully there will be someone else available who can come or at least tag team with me if they can't make it Friday but could on Sat.

It would be wise, in all cases, to honor the wishes of T.L.C.

I'm pretty sure I'll be in. I still have to check some work/school stuff, but I'm planning on coming out.

I'm a noob myself, looking to see if maybe I could join in Saturday afternoon. not familiar with the trail at all (which is a shame since I am just South of Magnolia) Id park at TH 2 and back track towards ya, but don't see the "Korean Pond". Should know next week if I can make it.
