Ok, my son is definitely coming. (3 kayaks)
Lenny
+2 Hueys (likely)
Rick and son
Allen

I might bring steaks or something for similar for Friday dinner, still mulling the options.

Possibly 1-0 Huey on this run. Cheryl is booked for a flight to Washington on that weekend to go see our newest grand baby. I may be joining her if work is not an issue. If I am freed up and decide not to go with her, then I will be there.

Looking forward to getting back on the LSHT and marking some more waypoints. Just did a weekend hang with Rick, his son and Sarge at Niederhoffer and was able to partially update the LSHT track on my webpage. Looking at arriving at PL#6 Saturday morning.

from the PL, go to the trail and take a left at the branch. Hurricane cove is 0.6 miles from there on the shore of Lake Conroe.

And a great trip that was.

If you want, you can hike in from Parking Lot #3 (7.7 miles) or from a small parking area on Osborne Road (5.1 miles) to get some more waypoints and POI.

The parking spot is on the east side of Osborne Rd, not the one on the west side which would block the gate. Its a small area, only big enough for one or two cars.

Sounds good, I'll have that waypoint for your mystery road tonight. Been playing with topo making software along with some USGS data.

I am thinking of hiking in from PL #1 on Saturday and then back out on Sunday (trying to make it feel like a backpacking trip). So expect me if you see me (or my dogs).

Can I plan on filtering the lake water? Or are there better options for drinking water?

i will bring my guardian filter and will probably also bring in a case or 2 of water on the kayaks

So is that a "yes" on the lake water being safe to filter? I was going to bring my filter and see how that worked.

Personally, I think there are waaaaaaayyyyy too many motor boats on Lake Conroe for me to consider filtering water from it.

Boiling won't do much for petrochemicals.

But Greg is in dat bidness and may have some more scienterrific information regarding gas and oil in a lake as large as Lake Conroe. I'm kinda paranoid about water and may be over reacting a bit.

I'd drink just about anything coming out of that Guardian.
