Tarp Snakeskins
I have some Snakeskins for my Kelty12 and they work great and make it a breeze to put the tarp up, but stuffing them back in seems to take forever. I figure I'm doing something wrong. Is there an easy way to get the tarp back in the Snakeskins?

Re: Tarp Snakeskins
If you have the Hennessy ones, I think it maybe due to the size of the skins to the size of the tarp being stuffed. If you go to http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/cottage ... ods-store/ she will make you a larger size even does custom work for much larger tarps.

Also as far as stuffing it is best to do the wrapping and unwrapping of tarps in snakeskins while it is tied off and the ridgeline is fairly straight.

Re: Tarp Snakeskins
They are made for the Kelty by outdoor trail gear. They are really nice mesh skins. Yes, this last time I put them back in the skins I left the ridge line up. I guess I'll chalk it up to practice, practice, practice.

Re: Tarp Snakeskins
Some folks simply slide the skin along the tarp on the ridgeline, cramming it in as they go, and it works for them. I tend to get better results if I roll my tarp, from the tie out points to the ridge line then slide the skins over the rolled tarp. YMMV.

I do the roll THEN cram method. Seems to work for me.

Re: Tarp Snakeskins
So you roll the tarp around the ridge line and then stuff it into the snakeskins?Scuba wrote:I do the roll THEN cram method. Seems to work for me.

Yes. Don't have to roll it tight, just roll it enough to where the skins are not trying to push all of the fabric to the middle.

Bingo, that's exactly what I need to do, thanks. I was trying to cram it all in there and looked like my Snakeskins ate a possum about a week before!Baby Huey wrote:Yes. Don't have to roll it tight, just roll it enough to where the skins are not trying to push all of the fabric to the middle.
