The straps are thin, no real padding, when I got mine I repacked everything from my 47.8L (which had a little room to spare) walmart special into it and just fit everything with room to spare for food and my water bladder if/when I use it. This is going to be my late spring thru early fall pack. And I also have my big 65L for the colder weather (when I get out there) and packing some extra warth and luxury items. The hip belt sits just above my pants waist line for me, the pack seems to be just tall enough. Not the best pack but for $25 I love it. Not to mention its pounds lighter than my other packs being a frameless "ultralight" pack.. which I'm still very new to the ultralight world myself

With all my gear for 30-40degree temps I'm in just under 12lbs without food and water. The lack of padding on the straps won't be an issue I dont think, for me anyways.

I am 5'10" ,155 lbs. I wonder if your belts are anchored different. I'm gonna take it on a 5 mile over night this weekend. I still need to strap my UQ on it and water/food. I'll find a way for $24.00 bucks. Good deal for sure. Do they make a larger version?

As far as I know its only one size. When I ordered I believe it said it was a "..large 40L.." so I assumed it meant for a taller framed person. It did look quite small when I opened it but it fits what I need so I'm happy lol. And on the hip pockets, they are a bit behind me rather than at my sides but I can deal with it (6ft 235lbs) I like the feel of the pack being centered and compact on my back. Enjoy your trip and hope it works out for you.

Hike yesterday went okay. Had some shoulder pain about mile 3. Had a plastic piece explode as well. Plain and simple , this bag might not be for me. ImageImageImage

I'm going to give the pack a readjusting and manage weight and secure load a little better. I really want this pack to work.
