We are ok with people discussing politics, especially here in this forum...but...if a civil discussion devolves into name calling and ad hominem attacks I will lock this up.

I know I am overreacting because we are all adults here, but just in case any visitors show up.....

That sounds to me like a good way to go, always. IMO, and FWIW. And as far as I can tell things have remained pairly civilized around her despite the discussion of all sorts of different topics among people with very different views. Amazing. But even if it had not stayed civilized, the key (seems to me, but what do I know about it? ) is dealing with those that go ad hominem.

At least there's one place on the internet that won't be completely overwhelmed with uniformed commentary and anger. Thanks for being a bunch of level headed people.

It's precisely THIS type of name calling that can start a fight! Who you callin' level-headed?! My cranium has ALWAYS had a nice crown to it and I'm not gonna change that just because it might offend you.

Some people just wake up looking for a reason to be offended...

At 7 am Tuesday I will walk to the polling place at the Rec. Center and vote to keep the Supreme Court from becoming Progressive. This is the biggest thing in this election.
There are wonders out there...now to go find them HFHS (Have Fun & Hike Safe)

It is with profound disappointment that I cast a vote for someone I neither respect nor want my children to emulate, but I cast it for exactly this reason. When faced with two bad choices, I chose the one least likely to do irreversible harm to the future of this country and our democratic experiment.

I voted the week before last and with no particular disappointment.
Nobody is perfect, but neither am I. We get the leaders we deserve.
I like progress.
I honestly don't understand all the angst and pessimism.
I am much more optimistic about the future than I am in love with the past.

I know. I'm pretty stunned. Even took PA and several other normally liberal northern strong holds. Hard to believe. It appears Ann Coulter's unheeded advice to McCain and Romney- but apparently heeded by Trump - was dead on. Ignore those you stand no chance of bringing to your way of thinking, and concentrate on the majority who you stand a chance with. I think he got less than 1/3 of the Hispanic vote, but the best any Rep has ever done- GWB who wanted full amnesty- is I think about 40% 1st term. Not even that good 2nd term. So you might a well forget it and concentrate on what is still, for now at least, the majority.

Now I can only pray that he will keep his word about so many things, most important being conservative, constitutionalist supreme court appointments, and that he won't turn out to be as bad or worse than I know- from her words and her record- that HRC would have been. If he does good and not evil, he may well have only 4 years to get er done. Though his electoral college win was stout, he only got in with a narrow margin popular vote at best. And unless he succedes on his promise not only to stop all illegal and a lot of legal immigration, there will only be more immigrants voting next time, and they will mostly vote- as always- for the liberal Dem or socialist who will promise them the most stuff.

Still in shock!

I also agree that I hope he doesn't cave in and holds to at least most of his platform I also agree it was essential to not derail the Supreme Court. I'll will nvr forget when I found out Hillary lost. I was deep in the adk mountains with a few friends holed up in a wall tent with the wood stove crackling surrounded by woolen clothes and rifles .none of us could relax as we were waiting for verification of the impending doom and soon to follow demise of a palatable Supreme Court. Tuned into the fuzzy reception of a hand held am radio ,only able to make out a few lines here and there. When I heard "and the new trump administration " we just kept saying "what what what did they say " then we heard it again. Everybody in that tent ,all patriotic Americans ,of various decent just fell back in silence deep into our cots. There was silence in that tent and in those mountains as we absorbed the news . We had just ducked a bullet the nemesis known as Hillary became irrelevant in that moment. We were like a bunch of kids after that grown men non less than 42 to 53 dancing around this tent in long underwear high fiving and giggling like school girls.

Is this just colorful writing or did you mean something by referencing "patriotic"? Is there something unpatriotic about those that supported HRC?

Neither. I said we are patriotic guys. Which we are. I did not infer that all trump supporters are nor did I infer that HRC supporters are not. It was just a story about guys In a tent and a crappy AM radio.

Ohhh now I see what you meant I couldn't figure it out. You thought I meant "All patriotic Americans " felt relief so to speak. My reference was only to the individuals present in that tent and that we are patriotic ,which we are. That's all was meant in narrow scope.

I'm glad y'all enjoyed the news. It left me depressed for a day or two. But lets all hope for the best.
