I placed some orders with Ripstop by the Roll, and Make Your Gear today. Got the goods to make a new zippered bug net hammock and 3/4 length underquilt kit. Plus all the stuff needed to hang em. :D
Now comes the constant checking of order and shipping status.
Oh man my wife is gonna be mad when I finally tell her how much I spent. :o

So--

go ahead and get the video camera too.

I will be pushing it to find time to work on these projects. Lots of staying up late or getting up early ( I work a 12 hour night shift) to try and make progress that does not interfere with family time. Would never be able to find the time to film it and edit it as well. That plus I'm camera shy. I'll leave the how to videos to the pros ;) . I'll post some snapshots once I'm done. Working out the details in my head, I'm sure I'll have some questions soon.

Just tell her that making your own gear is saving you a bundle. Point to the REI website first. The trick is to space things out so that all those parts are falling on different budget months, then when you put it all together, you can say you saved money :)

Take it easy, post pictures too :-)
Texas will again lift it's head and stand among the nations. It ought to do so, for no country upon the globe can compare with it in natural advantages.

No, no, no!

Make a second set up for wifey and introduce her to the comforts of hammock camping. You will be her hero, no questions about money...
