I was in Sams the other day and saw a table of down vests. $18.98. The tag said 80% duck down, 20% feathers. light/thin.

Thoughts?

I bought one. Of course it hasn't been cold enough to do any kind of proper testing, but a few years ago I bought a similar one from JC Penny and its good enough for most of what I do down here.

I got it b/c I actually get too warm in the JCP jacket while active. I figger the lack of sleeves will help moderate temps somewhat

Costco currently has men's down vests for $17 or $18 as well as women's down jackets. Crossing my fingers that men's down jackets come in soon.

So in Texas, does layering for outdoor activities mean not washing off the first application of sunscreen before applying a second?
