Thanks for the info. I found some pants that I really like so I went back and bought a couple pairs off amazon when they went on sale. I got the prAna Halle in lined and unlined. They are water resistant and when do get wet they dry quickly. They also seem to wash well as I got some mud and tree jun...

Realizing that everyone handles cold differently and that it's hard to nail something down, can someone give me an estimate on what I should realistically expect to get out of a Costco down throw temperature wise? It might be a better question to ask what is the lowest temperature anyone has taken t...
Sounds fun. I do not know details. I understand that resuppy on the BMT is not as easy as the AT. There is a guy that is on youtube "Evan's Backpacking Videos" he has done the BMT a few times. you could watch his videos or contact him for some info. Good luck HFHS(Have Fun & Hike Safe). I am only h...
I have been going back and forth and I had tentatively planned for hiking the NC leg of the BMT (thanks Sarge for suggesting that trail) in June of 2017. Well, after some research and talking to some other people on the WB forum I realized that the heat and the bugs and all that jazz might be more t...

Don't feel bad if you don't get much of a response. The community here is always growing, but there's not a lot of East Coasters on as far as I can tell. Definitely some, but our good friends over in Texas seem to have the concentration of folks. Not surprising with folks like Scuba and Sarge leadi...
I'm thinking about trying to organize a NC group hang probably in November (not to conflict with the Black Jack Hang in Batesville the 11-13th.). Want to go to the western part of the state and TN, VA, SC, GA and anyone else who is interested is more than welcome. I checked out a couple of the NC fa...

We need new blood in our community and we need to show them the ropes in a friendly manner. Explain to them in a NICE way why we use tree straps and not 550 cord. Explain to them why a 30 degree angle work best for both your suspension and the trees from which you are hanging. WE ARE THE ONES WHO W...

I have found some good stuff on Sierra Trading just takes a little while to get it. You're right though, if you are not on a particular time crunch and you have the time to go back and keep it checked, you can find some decent stuff on there.

I've noticed that if I quote someone, who has already quoted someone else it pulls in the entire thread. I get their response and the response of what they quoted also. If that's just a setting in the system, it would be nice to only get the text of the person you're quoting and not the text of the...
