Re: Texas State Parks and 2 inch straps

VERY WELL SAID! I am not a Texas hanger but did have to cancel a personal trip last year in another state after speaking to a ranger and being told that my Hammock was a no go. She shares exactly the examples you did about bad behaviors she had seen. They threw the baby out with the bath water... Se...

Re: First hang with Whoopies

All good, I use 7/64 because I have an 800 ft spool of it. I just wanted to point out that if 7/64 is easier to find, which I think was implied at the beginning, it is totally adequate for all but the very largest hangers.

First hang with Whoopies

I do lots of splicing and have been hanging on 7/64 for going on 5 years without issue. I'm 6'4" 250 lbs [emoji41]

If anyone is interested the rating of 7/64 Amsteel is 1600 lbs:

Why 1/8? What is your application?

Re: Helinox Camp Chair at Walmart

It is a pretty good buy. We have both. I would be VERY hesitant to use the Walmart version if you weigh more than 150. Ours buckled quickly with a 200+ occupant.

Re: REI presentation on elevated camping "hammock camping"

Pulling your hammock tight is bad for the tree, and bad for you if the stress of 574% of your weight is more than your straps or hammock can handle. The mention that this is a static load calculations and all sorts of worse things start happening when you introduce movement into the equation. Not t...

+1 to SCUBA's comment. RSBTR is great. I have also ordered quite a bit from DutchWareGear.com too.

Re: Bling is for the birds!!!

I have some bling but not a ton. What I have I really like do to ease of set up BUT my current 15'x15' group dining fly is getting all cordage due to the number of lines and tieouts
