Statement of Principles

I recently made a statement of principles on the Facebook page that I will repeat here: "Here's a pledge to you guys: This site will never ban or threaten to ban you or anybody else if you're discussing hammocks, hammock products, or hammock marketing as long as you're doing it honestly, politely, a...

Very Thankfull This Morning

As hikers and backpackers, we should count ourselves lucky that, this time, Republicans are in charge during a shut down. National Forests are never "closed" except for that one time the Obama Administration went out of its way to close parking lots at trailheads, scenic overlooks, and picnic areas ...

Re: Harvey

We're home. House is dry and most of the neighborhood looks like nobody got water in thier homes---at least there's no piles of sheetrock, carpets, and furniture out in front anywhere. The office got flooded so I'll be working out of the house for the next couple of weeks. We left b/c the Brazos was...

Re: Harvey

Yah; its mandatory now. Last year during the Tax Day flood we were high and dry with the Brazos at 55'-0", but we couldn't get out of the subdivision after it got to about 50'-0. Up until about three hours ago, the forecast crest was 55'-6", something we figured we could tough out. But now the lates...

Re: Harvey

Nope.

Was voluntary and when I looked at the map, my place was on an island inside the evac zone. That's how it shook out last year---I spent a week on an island in a tropical climate. I might do the same thing again.

I'm saving a frikkin fortune on airfare.

Re: Letter from Lawson re:shipping changes

As a small cottage guy (in another field) who has to make things as they are ordered and can't keep the popular stuff in stock, I know his pain.

And I don't blame him one bit.

Re: Have we become too sensitive?

But, there may be some hope. Some Left leaning sources are coming around and may be realizing that the Authoritarianism now running rampant through Leftist practices, if not the ideology, is driving people away. This New York Times editorial has some good commentary. The fourth actor is the media. T...

Re: Have we become too sensitive?

Not only do Liberals tend to lie about what someone said and then kick the stuffing out of the strawman afterwards, they'll also claim that other people ignore science and that they never do, and then they'll ignore it all day long when it interferes with their narrative. So you did not explicitly ...

Re: Have we become too sensitive?

Of course, before we explain what James Damore was right about, it’s important to note the things liberals FALSELY claim he said. He didn’t say women should be paid less than men. He didn’t argue that there should be no diversity. He didn’t argue that women are biologically inferior. He didn’t, as ...
