Re: Have we become too sensitive?

You are most likely correct. He has suffered from the PC bias of the current corporate world, our governments and much of brain washed society. They promote openness, but not that kind of openness. They want him and all of their employees to be open to the concept that a woman can do anything a man...

Re: Neck hammock on Kickstarter

Well. Ok then. Why not? Wonder if it really helps. I know a night in the hammock helps me with back pain.

Re: Hiking with guns

Here in Florida open carry without a permit is legal when camping or hiking ( unless restricted otherwise ). I have carried my ruger .380 lcp before. My thoughts being it's enough pistol to discourage anything I may encounter on the trail. I'm not going to stop a black bear, but I'm not willing to c...

Well geeze sarge I feel inadequate. I just have a bag with first aid supplies, esbit stove and fuel tabs, space blankets, soup powders, single mirror, flashlight, candle, and some other little get me through a stranded night out. Keep it in the trunk with a wool blanket as well.

Re: Hiking and Fishing

I once took a cheap colapsable pole on a camping trip with my son. We were camping on a salt water flat. Worked good for casting out on the waterway. Got a hit but it slipped the line. I have thought about trying out the fly fishing thing as well. But I really don't need another potentially expensiv...

Re: Mission for Sil Nylon to make gear quilt

Ripstop by the roll actually sells a pack cover kit that starts at around $10 for all the materials needed to make a basic pack cover. I am sure you could easily modify it to make a gear sling.

Re: Blak Leef hammock. Thoughts?

Yep looks huge and heavy. A hybrid bridge/ gathered in hammock? Could be comfy, but I wouldn't wanna tote that sucker. Not a lot of info on the site either. Makes me wary.

Re: DIY trekking poles?

I've thought about it, but didn't know if it was worth the time and money. I guess if you already have or can get the c.f. golf clubs cheap it might fun to try. I don't know how much they cost normaly and is it cheaper than just buying hiking poles?

Re: Whipping it

There is a YouTube video where a guy shows several different types/ ways to whip your hammock ends. My first diy was a Hennessey clone so I used the Hennessey method. If I remember correctly I started from the outside edges and folded inwards trying to achieve six folds on each side. But it's been a...

Dynema zippered pouch kit at RSBTR

Ripstop by the Roll has a new dynema (aka cuben fiber) zippered pouch diy kit available. Neat little deal for a lightweight waterproof pouch. It comes in three different sizes and is a very reasonable price. Definatly something to check out, I know I'm adding it to my wish list.

Thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes on your continuing recovery.I have been since the beginning of the year engaged in a lifestyle changing health kick. I've changed my diet, and increased my exercise. I have been able to lose about 40 lbs so far. I'm driving my family crazy at times tryin...

Re: Planning ahead for failure?

Maybe. I've hung my whoopie slings on the toggle and not the knot and ended up on the ground before. Have hung my cinchbuckles a little crooked and had them slip as well. Also tore a hole in my bugnet once by not being careful. All part of the experience I guess. Thankfully your fall was at home and...

Re: UL Tent Stakes

Thanks for the reply. Another project for my to do (someday) list! I've been using cheap aluminum Coughlin stakes from wally world, but they're starting to get bent up. So I've been looking for a replacement, but hate spending to much ( I'm a baller on a budget ) for something i might damage it loose.
