Re: Harvey

I remained dry and comfortable through the storm. I had a trip scheduled and rescheduled my flights to fly into/outof San Antonio. At the moment I'm in Montana. From record breaking rain to record breaking drought.

Re: Harvey

Yah, we're headed to Wimberly---if I can get from here to 290 past Prarie View. 99 is closed at Clay and 290 is closed at Prarie View. From a friend at 10:20 am: After several hours of circuiting around freeways and surface streets, my family and I have finally made it to Conroe (about 30 miles nor...

Re: Harvey

Yah; its mandatory now. Last year during the Tax Day flood we were high and dry with the Brazos at 55'-0", but we couldn't get out of the subdivision after it got to about 50'-0. Up until about three hours ago, the forecast crest was 55'-6", something we figured we could tough out. But now the late...

Re: Harvey

Nope. Was voluntary and when I looked at the map, my place was on an island inside the evac zone. That's how it shook out last year---I spent a week on an island in a tropical climate. I might do the same thing again. I'm saving a frikkin fortune on airfare. I thought I saw the voluntary change to ...

Re: Harvey

At this point pretty much any spot that gets the worst of the rain is going to flood. So far my neighborhood (Clay and Barker Cypress) has been lucky and is dry enough. If someone needs a dog-friendly place to crash let me know.

Re: Have we become too sensitive?

But I suppose that is neither here or there. Let's say he is totally wrong. If so, so what? The question is: is he allowed to think it? If so, is he allowed to let those thoughts out of his head without losing his career? Obviously, many from the liberal/left feel the answer to all those questions ...

Re: Amsteel - How much does Size matter

Google found this link that looks relevant: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/125262-Guide-to-Amsteel My understanding is that if you put a knot in the Amsteel the working load would go down to about 160 lbs. If your hang angle is 30 degrees the tension on your suspension is equal t...

Re: Have we become too sensitive?

Not only do Liberals tend to lie about what someone said and then kick the stuffing out of the strawman afterwards, they'll also claim that other people ignore science and that they never do, and then they'll ignore it all day long when it interferes with their narrative. So you did not explicitly ...

I'm just saying they are in the wrong and a bunch of oppressive PC bigots punishing people for having incorrect thoughts.
This would be an interesting topic.

IMHO, the Google/Damore incident does not provide a useful example.

I've been wondering what we can do to help the males. Affirmative action maybe?

Re: Have we become too sensitive?

And absolutely Google made a legal business decision. But they made a wrong decision, a discriminatory double standard decision. As indeed the laws are wrong and discriminatory and full of double standard. Discrimination is legal against out of favor(with government and corporations) groups, but no...
