Dang it's hot out here!

So, "don't hang until it cools off" is not an option. What is your set up when the days are 100+ and the nights are low 80s and the humidity is fairly low? I take the lightest weight underquilt I have and just hang it loose with one or both ends open and then cover with a twin size sheet, if needed,...

Re: RE: New pocket concept

I've been playing around with a new pocket design and thought I'd show off the first couple prototypes. It'll fit on pretty much any hammock either on the ridgeline or maybe on the suspension or straps. I think further prototypes will be geared towards CPAP machines and related equipment. Anyway, h...

Re: Synthetic top quilt

That looks great. I salute your DIY skills. I don't have sewing MOJO. What do you think the temperature "rating" is it?

Re: Do you groundcloth? What do you use?

I use a 3'×3' piece of tyvek that I stake at the corners. It is normally pretty windy in the desert.

Re: Latest projects

That hammock looks great! The red stitching really adds a great touch. It really shows your sewing prowess. How does the zipper hold up on the quilt?

There are things that can be done with 30 gallon trash bags filled helium attached to 30 gallon trash bags filled with oxygen and acetylene that probably are better left to your imagination rather than described in detail. Or so I have heard...

Re: Does length matter?

I thought I would throw my $.02 in although it seems everything has been covered. I am 6' and camped in an ENO Double Nest hammock for years before I learned there were cottage vendors out there. I didn't know about 30 degree angles, diagonal lays or any of that. I was very comfortable in the 9.5' h...

Helinox Chair

Anyone remember last year when Stio.com had a Helinox chair on sale? I think I was the last person to buy one from them before they went on sale. I bought it because it had a rated capacity of 319 pounds. The one time I sat in it in my back yard it held my 285# lard butt with ease. My problem is it ...

Bearded Hanger Hammock #2

I just received a new hammock from The Bearded Hanger. It is a 11' double layer, gathered end hammock made of 2.2 Hex70 XL with a Knotty mod at the head and the foot. This isn't for back packing and I don't have a weight on it. I weigh around 285# so the hammocks I have ordered have been ordered for...
