I enjoyed reading the blogs. I look forward to seeing the videos when I get home from work.

Happy trails!

Re: chamelion by dutch...??? may be too close to Sparrow

I have been away for awhile, and only lurk occasionally. People are way too concerned about things that don't concern them. It's what's wrong with the entire world. I have SEVERAL hammocks. Like 14 at one time. Thinned it out a bit, down to about 10 or so? Not sure. Anyway, the one I always go back ...

Re: The Main Reason I have No Desire To Hike the AT

I like the AT. It's where I cut my backpacking chops. I don't usually run into too many people, because I probably go in winter months more than any other time. The ones that are out there at that time seem pretty cool. Plus, as mentioned by hikehunter, no bugs, or bears, and few people. More often ...

Re: RE: Re: Do you hike so you can camp or camp because you hike?

One thing though, backpacking has completely ruined car camping for me. If i'm brining all that, i'd rather just stay at home. Here, here! Same happened to me. I may car camp again sometime for the sake of the kids, but I'll be wishing I was backpacking. We get a cabin for a week every year at Fron...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Synthetic top quilt

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Been busy with work. I used fabric instead of grosgrain. Grosgrain is stiff and IMO it doesn't cinch up as easily. What would you like pics of? Let me know and I will post them. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk I misread your original post initially, I ...

Re: Hang Your Own Hang Podcast - Episode 8 (TreeFool) Released!

I have only just begun to listen to this episode (whatever I could squeeze in during my lunch break), but wow. Logan is a very interesting guy. I'd love to hang out with him sometime.

Thanks for the podcast, it's great as always!

Re: Synthetic top quilt

Velcro for the footbox sounds interesting. Do you have any more detailed pictures of the footbox closure? Nice job on the quilt.

I used grosgrain to make the channel for the footbox on mine, and it doesn't work very well. I'll probably rip the stitching out and make a new channel from ripstop.

Re: RE: Re: Hike/Camp Pistol

Well at least he smiled for the picture. Pretty good sized snake. I guess you won't have to much worries about mice and rats near your camp! Yeah, I guess 6 or 7 feet. I was actually hanging in my backyard, and I heard my neighbor scream. I yelled to her to ask if she was okay, and she asked me to ...

Just ran into one about 30 minutes ago. I tried to kiss it before I relocated it, but apparently it was not interested.

Re: Warbonnet BlackBird XLC 1.7 SL Hammock

I actually own this hammock now. It was sold to Funny Money, and I got it from him. Just used it last week... http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160515/bd8c6cfc24bd1a0c5b0eeffa389e7de6.jpg May end up selling it. I get calf ridge in this hammock unlike any other I've owned. Going to rewhip the ends an...

Re: CAN/HAVE YOU HUNG FROM BIG HORIZONTAL BRANCHES?

Haven't done it on a tree, but I got to the shelter area on an AT section hike after dark, and it was too dangerous to setup camp outside because the wind was gusting 30+mph, it was in the low 30's, and I couldn't check for widow makers. We setup the hammocks from the rafters in the shelter. Not ide...

Re: Footwear - What do you use?

Like the OP, I have Salomon speedcross 3's. They are 9.5, but I think I need 10. The toe box is really tight, and since I have scar tissue on the top of my pinky and adjacent toes on my left foot (which happens to be the larger of my two feet), so I sometimes get blisters if I do over 10 miles a day...

Re: Hike/Camp Pistol

I don't own a handgun, but if I did and I were going to carry while backpacking, it would be for protection from people. People are evil and have agendas. Animals just want food. I've only had a handful of bear encounters, but the humans scare me more.

Involuntary hammock naps are the bestest.
