Re: New Use for Amsteel and Whoopie Slings

Nice application. I did not realize that this was a stand up exercise while the float was on the water...definitely makes for a much more challenging exercise regimen.

Re: Question about - UGQ - WinterDream Tarp with End Pole Mods

I would recommend buying shock cord with plenty to spare but trying to cut exact lengths at this point might not be your best option. With the mods out there, you may not have the same length poles, the shock cord could be different size (1/4 or 3/8), the shock cord from company to company may be sl...

Re: Veterans: Give a shout out

Essayons! I was also at Eschborn but a few years later...'88 - '91. Went to the 317th reunion in Tennessee back in June. Lots of folks attended. Good to see a fellow Engineer here. Too bad we did not have hammocks back then for Wildflecken. Army (AC) and Retired from the California Army National Gua...

Re: Fifth Annual Texas Butt Bake - Sponsored by Dream Hammock and HammockHangers.net

Well I made the third annual butt bake and actually wore my shirt last week since it started getting hot again. This will be the second year in a row that I will miss, but will certainly make the Fall hang and hopefully some additional forays during the summer and early fall. Be safe out there and h...

Re: Pack list

Here is an REI checklist in PDF format. You can always cut and paste to another format and add your own info, but this is a good start.

Re: Low Flow Collection for Sawyer Mini

For on the go type setup, the Sawyer Mini as part of an in line setup would minimize down time. You would only spend the time to collect the water and possibly pre filter if necessary.

Re: 7th Annual Texas Fall Group Hang

Is this how I got stuck in 9? lol j/k (but it will be a long walk to 23 for kayaking) I know you are paid up for a site as am I, but I would certainly be willing to share the site if it would help your kayaking activities. I did some scouting and 9 was not up to my boss' requirements for how far ap...

Re: 7th Annual Texas Fall Group Hang

I think you are looking at capacity not site #, you are in site 24. Yes, by the map I am in site 24 and that is perfect, but the planning spreadsheet lists me as site 9 and another person in site 24. See the document here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nlmzdIe6BhWd_qlyHjMjzLHXDjgbKS0zymfmi...

Re: Best Hammock For A Noob

I don't know if I would recommend Dream Hammock or a serious DIY hammock to a noob. Lots of options and choices that will mean nothing to a beginner, and likely be overwhelming. Let a Dream Hammock be what you aspire into imo. :) I would guess it depends on what kind of noob one might be. I was a b...

Re: The Main Reason I have No Desire To Hike the AT

Makes sense for the large population that lives on that crowded part of the country and is relatively low elevation for people who have issues with low oxygen etc. Actually much taller mountains in Texas than any east of Mississippi river. But there are many great options for 1-3 week hikes in west...

Re: Dog Packs

Zort, Did you pick up the military harness for dogs? Would like to see that in action. I also have the palisades by ruffwear and that seems to work well. Back in the '90s I had a pack that I put on my Rhodesian Ridgeback, but it really did not fit well. I switched back then to a ruffwear pack for hi...

Re: Continuous Loops

Thanks PointPastor. I was fairly certain that a little extra bury would take care of any issues, but I am quite pedantic. I'll bury right back in the hole.
