Re: Dog owners live longer

I can only hope it also applies to cats, as we now have 3 of the rascals. I most likely would have zero except for my wife's influence. We had one- Booger- for 19 years before he died and I buried him in the back yard. I was always a dog person and never cared much for cats, but that little devil an...

No the only weight I have is 1.5 pounds for the entire thing. Tarp, stakes, tie outs, beener and 2 stuff sacks.
Well, if all of that is included in 24 oz, then it cant be terribly heavy, maybe 19 oz? I'll know soon enough.

Re: MD Pinnacle lightweight tarp for $29.99

I recently acquired a new very lightweight tarp that is available from Amazon for $29.99 Here is my video review on this item. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnEJWysavew Just ordered one, seems like a real good price and claims to have extra UV resistance. Do you know the weight? I'm thinking it m...

Re: It's (record)cold up north! Anyone on this site up there hangin?

6 of us were out Friday night, 8 total for the weekend of our 2nd Packers/bears hang, with a low around 23. Nothing record breaking for early November in WI, but our first real cold this fall. It was fun to break out the 20° quilts, forgot how much more down they have than the 40° stuff I've used t...

Re: It's (record)cold up north! Anyone on this site up there hangin?

I attended the Packer/Bear hang last weekend in Wisconsin. While it was colder than usual for November - it was like hanging in December (just without the snow). So, it wasn't unheard of cold. Just colder than normal. I'm looking forward to the 3rd annual DaShack hang in Iola, Wisconsin in December...

Re: It's (record)cold up north! Anyone on this site up there hangin?

.............................................. My record with this setup is 6 F with a light breeze and small tarp. Doubling up on quilts really helps. Is that your hammock record period, regardless of what you were using? Because if so, we share that 6F record! Mine was in an HH Super Shelter with...

It's (record)cold up north! Anyone on this site up there hangin?

I know most folks at the site are Texans, and few other southerners thrown in. But I think a few of us are scattered about. Anyone up north/midwest, MN/PA etc? They are setting quite a few record lows, with for example a -14F in International Falls, MN! Wowza, that is sho nuff cold for early Nov! I ...

Re: Four things they did differently that made real conversation possible

Though corrupt modern judges no doubt disagree with me, I don't think there even is an establishment clause, and if there is it has nothing to do with giving you the right to(EDIT: appear at their get together and)- what, pray? To whom? The first amendment- despite the perversion by modern liberal ...

Re: Four things they did differently that made real conversation possible

Competent judges wouldn't agree with you Bill because on that statement you are incorrect: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. It is in the constitution in rather plain, clear, language. How the framers got from "all men are ...

Re: Four things they did differently that made real conversation possible

Your point "my problem with modern political discourse is that a lot of people think that shouting down opposing views is acceptable/appropriate." is right on. But so far at least, it seems that 90% of that problem comes from the left. Whether from Antifa, or the average university profs and studen...

Re: Four things they did differently that made real conversation possible

my problem with modern political discourse is that a lot of people think that shouting down opposing views is acceptable/appropriate. You (generic you, not you in particular) have a right to have an opinion that is different than mine, and you have the right to be wrong :) . one of my favorite clas...

Re: An Oldy but goodie: HHSS/tarp/hammock in same skins

Where is the pattern for the snake skins. I would like to make SS for my eno hammock with bugnet and tarp. Sorry, I don't know. Maybe Sarge will know that. But as for just snake skins, just figure out the length AND diameter you need to get around your hammock or whatever you want to cover in skins...

Re: An Oldy but goodie: HHSS/tarp/hammock in same skins

Sorry, the 2nd link is only for set up of hammock, skins and tarp. I have not yet found the one where she sets up the HHSS. But the main thing I wanted to show is how she used 1 set of skins for hammock. UC and tarp, which is in the 1st link.
