Re: Of Cake and BBQ at the US Supreme Court

I thought this was interesting: https://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2017/07/just-desserts Contrary to initial appearances, Masterpiece Cakeshop does not entail a clash of constitutional rights. There is nothing in America’s constitution that entitles a gay couple to a cake prepared by...

Re: Of Cake and BBQ at the US Supreme Court

Okay, I tried to listen to it I maybe made it about 10 minutes into it. But I can't take it for very long. Because as you know I am no doubt the extremist in my viewpoint on these things. And I find all the intricacies they were discussing about when a person could refuse a service versus when he co...

If you guys lived a little closer to civilization, like MS or even state of LA, I'd be all over this! I have not been to a group hang in a long time.

I've never been on motorized bikes/cycles since I was a teenager, but I must admit that looks like fun! Biking around to various hang sites sounds like even more fun! Roxanne looks like a fun gal!

Welcome, Sheldon! If you are a noob, feel free to ask all the questions needed. There is plenty of experience with hammocks and insulation of same. Several of us have 5-10+ years of hangin in the woods and back yard.

Re: Brigde Hammock Question

Morning, quick question. Have seen some pictures that appear to show bridge hammocks that are reinforced with webbing at the ends where the spreader bars attach. Is this so? Everything I have seen to date on a DIY bridge has webbing running the length of the body. Appreciate any assistance and/or g...

Re: MD Pinnacle lightweight tarp for $29.99

I wonder if this touted UV protection translates to more UV resistance ( longer life/durability) for the tarp? "Our hammock cover are made from premium 190T Polyester water resistant and rip resistant material. 190T Polyester is much more expensive than other competitor Nylon hammock due to it abili...

Re: MD Pinnacle lightweight tarp for $29.99

17 oz! Stuff sacks, lines and stakes add another 7 oz for 24 oz total. Not bad at all for an inexpensive tarp! And who knows, there may be some advantages to being polyester rather than Sil-nylon(or not), plus it advertises high UV resistance. People should be all over this one if there are any left!

Re: Dog owners live longer

I can only hope it also applies to cats, as we now have 3 of the rascals. I most likely would have zero except for my wife's influence. We had one- Booger- for 19 years before he died and I buried him in the back yard. I was always a dog person and never cared much for cats, but that little devil an...

No the only weight I have is 1.5 pounds for the entire thing. Tarp, stakes, tie outs, beener and 2 stuff sacks.
Well, if all of that is included in 24 oz, then it cant be terribly heavy, maybe 19 oz? I'll know soon enough.

Re: MD Pinnacle lightweight tarp for $29.99

I recently acquired a new very lightweight tarp that is available from Amazon for $29.99 Here is my video review on this item. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnEJWysavew Just ordered one, seems like a real good price and claims to have extra UV resistance. Do you know the weight? I'm thinking it m...

Re: It's (record)cold up north! Anyone on this site up there hangin?

6 of us were out Friday night, 8 total for the weekend of our 2nd Packers/bears hang, with a low around 23. Nothing record breaking for early November in WI, but our first real cold this fall. It was fun to break out the 20° quilts, forgot how much more down they have than the 40° stuff I've used t...
