IMHO, it be too much work to harvest some odd shape "polyfil insulation". For around the same cost you could pick up a yard or two of Climashield Apex from Dutchware.

We are always searching for the perfect piece of gear but rarely does perfection exist. Once you know what you NEED (based upon height, weight, torso, personal requirements) the differences between gear X and gear Y comes down to personal preferences. But I still WANT to try every piece of gear out ...

I'm going with coincidence.

Experiment - try treating 50%, say only your left side, or your arms but not your legs.

Insects flying around is a part of nature I can live with. Being bit by insects a part of nature I do not enjoy.
