Re: Of Cake and BBQ at the US Supreme Court

I listened to a bit of it. Reasonable and interesting, but nothing new in it for me. It does reflect the reality of the world we live in. Since groups are protected... if the reports I have heard are correct, the baker had previously sold pre-made product to the couple. He did not kick them out of h...

Re: Of Cake and BBQ at the US Supreme Court

I did not listen to 20 minutes of podcast...I won't argue the free speech vs civil rights, no winner in that conversation. In our current political climate religion loses. This case really is not about free speech, it is about religious free speech. But I will be consistent. I believe that discrimin...

Price: $25.99

Might need to add one to my collection. I don't have a hex yet. I have winter tarps, and small diamond tarps...

Re: Dutch Spiders vs Hammock Fan Anchor S

my 2cents on the multi-buckle... My kids use biners, I use the buckles. I plan to get biners one of these days. I do like the multibuckle though. I have used them in a few ways. currently I have a loop of my strap around the center bar, wrap the strap around the tree, and then lock them in. I always...

Hammock Repair

On an 11 foot gathered end hexon 1.0 hammock, there are two small holes. One is just a stretch and puncture, the other is about 1 inch long. I think both came from a small dog's nails. Both are toward the outer 1/3, not in the center.. My son sleeps nightly in the hammock. What is the best way to fi...

Re: Personal Locator Beacons

I like the idea. On our hike last month, on the 3rd day we unexpectedly got a signal strong enough to text but not send pics or calls. It was nice to let my wife know our kids and I were OK, where we had made it to, and just check in. I don't see that as any different than a different device to do t...

Re: Hiking with guns

People who say that have never shot except on a range. They are the same idiots that tell people that Israeli carry (no round chambered) is the way to go. In an emergency, having to take the time to chamber a round might be the difference between life and death. Two of my 3 carry guns are DA/SA. I ...

Hiking with guns

I carry when I can, with work and school stuff getting in the way a lot. Mine is a 9mm 10 round compact SCCY mainly due to budget issues when I was purchasing. I do like it. I trust it. I can hit what I need to with it. It is DAO, and has a very similar feel to a revolver. Long heavy trigger pull. I...

Hammock Buyer Rule #1: Never, ever buy a hammock from a vendor who doesn't tell you how long it is. Ever.

And for off brands that do quote a length, clarify if that includes the Loops. I have sent requests to a few in the past, and they do count the attached loops in the length.

Re: Hiking and Fishing

I am not a good fly fisher, but I do pack in spinning gear on all my hikes. One of my main requirements for most of my backpacking trips is a lake or large stream for fishing when I get there. The gear is light enough I don't even worry about it.

Re: New Forum dedicated to heavyweight camping

Butt Bake seems to be a perfect example of this. Throw some water in a pack and hike in while the truck brings in the cast iron, tables, canopies, island......... Some of us haven't figured out there is a time and place for both. My hike earlier this month, between 3 of us we had 120lbs of packs. Ma...
